Yamaha Tyros2
Yamaha Tyros2 is a digital arranger workstation keyboard produced by Yamaha Corporation in 2005. It was produced and designed by Kazuhisa Ueki and Soichiro Tanaka, respectively. Currently the flagship digital arranger workstation of Yamaha since 2005, it is loaded with new features such as MegaVoice, primarily used in MIDI recording, which use velocity switching to add realism to your songs, Super Articulation, that includes additional sound effects on voices, to add much realism to your performance, Live!, Sweet! and Cool! voices, that are painstakingly sampled using stereo and multilayered samples to fully capture the natural presence, expression and vibrato of the real instruments, and Internet Direct Connection, for users to fully optimize the features of Tyros2 through downloading your favorite music for playback on Tyros2.
History
Kazuhisa Ueki and Soichiro Tanaka wanted to come up with an entirely new model of keyboards for Yamaha after the success of the PSR-9000 digital workstation series. They gave the new model the name Tyros, which was the first of its kind in the market, that had features not found on the PSR. One common thing that the two makers did was that both Tyros and Tyros2 had no installed speakers, for their reason was mobility; they added a music rest and optional speakers that can be connected to the holes found on the back of the said keyboards. Ueki and Tanaka always describe Tyros and Tyros2 as "not a synthesizer, nor a keyboard; it is both."
To aid in accessibility of the Tyros and Tyros2, the buttons were lit up with an internal LED bulb and arranged in such a way it is easy to memorize, especially on studios and live performances. The LCD screen was also modified for easy reading and operation as possible.
Tyros2 had a "very polyhedral" design according to Tanaka, which was part of a plan of "chipping off" or "scrapping off" unnecessary parts of the body, but it was done which careful planning, for the internal parts and the periperals must be fitted in the limited space. Both makers said that the "chipping off" plan was inspired by "crystallization", which was commonly used to refer to everyone involved in the development of the Tyros2. To adopt Tyros2 as a "crystal", Ueki and Tanaka used the properties of a crystal; being light, lusterous, shiny and solid. For this to be integrated to the Tyros2, they used plastic as its body, for reduction of weight, silver as its color, to detailiate the "shine" of Tyros2, and the lighted buttons, for the "luster". Ueki and Tanaka said on an interview that they even used black as the color of Tyros2, after they remembered the color of granite.
But much of the revolution of the "crystallization" of Tyros to Tyros2 was on the preloaded voices, styles and songs. Inspired by the installed voices on Tyros, Ueki remarked that "keeping the Voices of Tyros, and balancing it with the higher quality voices for the instrument, was nerve-wracking."

Quake III Arena (also known as Quake 3; abbreviated as Q3A or Q3), is a multiplayer first-person shooter computer and video game released on December 2, 1999. The game was developed by id Software and featured music composed by Sonic Mayhem and Front Line Assembly. Quake III Arena is the third in the series and differs from previous games in the series by excluding a traditional single-player element and focusing on multi-player action. The single-player is instead played against computer controlled bots in a similar style to Unreal Tournament.
Q3A's aim is to frag (kill) enemy players and score points based on the game mode's objective such as capturing the enemy flag. When a player's health points reach zero, that player's avatar is fragged; in the majority of modes the player can then respawn and continue playing, health restored, but without previously gathered weapons and power-ups. Games end when a player or team reaches a score or time-limit. Game modes include deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, and tournament.
Notable features of Quake 3 include the minimalist design, lacking rarely used items and features, the extensive customizability of player settings such as field of view, texture detail and enemy model, and advanced movement features such as strafe-jumping that give more speed with greater skill in contrast to the digital, all or nothing design of many computer games.
An expansion pack titled Quake III: Team Arena was released in December 2000 by id Software. It focused on team gameplay through new game modes and new weapons, items, and player models. Team Arena was, however, criticized as its additions were long overdue and had already been implemented by fan modifications. A few years later Quake III: Gold was released, including the original Quake III Arena and the Team Arena expansion packs bundled together.
On August 19, 2005, id Software released the complete source code for Quake III Arena under the GNU General Public License,[1] as they have for most of their prior engines. This does not make the entire game GPL, the textures and other data were not released. A project called OpenArena addresses this issue, creating open content and bundling it with the engine as a standalone Quake 3 release. Open Arena uses the ioquake3 engine[2], which is focused on bug fixes, sound and graphical improvements[3].

Development
During early March 1999, ATI leaked the internal hardware vendor (IHV) copy of the game.[4] This was a functional version of the engine with a textured level and working guns. The IHV contained all the weapons that would make it into the final game although most were not fully modelled; a chainsaw and grappling hook were also in the IHV but did not make it into the final release. Many of the sounds that would make it into the final release were also included.
After the IHV fiasco id Software released a beta of Quake III called Q3Test on April 24, 1999. Q3Test started with version 1.05 and included three levels that would be included in the final release: dm7, dm17, and q3tourney2. Id software continued to update Q3Test up until version 1.11.[5]

A Moxy MT 40B.
Moxy Engineering is a Norwegian manufacturer of articulated dump trucks for off-road use in the earth moving and construction industries. Moxy was founded by the industrialist Birger Hatlebakk, who had previously founded the Glamox factory in Molde.

History
Moxy built the first prototype dump truck in 1970. The first model was a heavy duty dump truck drawn by a powerful tractor with rear wheels driven by hydraulic motors. The next version, an articulated dump truck driven by a Scania diesel engine, D20, was also finished in 1970. The first prototypes were built in Molde, but then the company moved to nearby Elnesv?gen in Fr?na municipality, where a new factory was built. About the same time Moxy acquired Gj?vik based company ?veraasen Motorfabrikk & Mekaniske Verksted, which provided Moxy with useful engineering technology.
In 1972 Moxy marketed its first articulated dump truck, the Viking D15, which used a bogie under the dump box and six wheel drive. The trucks were well received by the earth moving industry. Around 1980 the company was acquired by English company Brown Engineering, who changed the name to Moxy Industries AS.
During the 80's several new dump trucks were developed and Moxy gained a good reputation in the market place and exported their products to several countries around the globe. In order to increase their production capacity Moxy cooperated with Tallmek Sm?la AS, who produced the dump boxes. In the 80's Moxy started a cooperation with the Japanese company Komatsu. During one period Moxy produced dump trucks that Komatsu sold under their own brand name. In 1981 the Norwegian state owned company AS Olivin and Komatsu together acquired Moxy and changed the company name to Moxy Trucks AS. Olivin owned 2/3 and Komatsu 1/3 of the shares. The new owners injected fresh capital and the Moxy dump trucks were sold through the Komatsu sales network, which led to a large increase in sales.
In 2000 Komatsu withdrew from the partnership and Moxy lost a number of its sales outlets, which led to a reduction in sales. The drop in sales in turn led to a reduction in the workforce, this coincided with the Norwegian state's efforts to partly privatise Olivin (49% of the shares were sold to private investors). In order to make Olivin more attractive for prospective byers the state injected 50 mil NOK into the company and split off the struggling Moxy as a state owned company. However, in 2002 51% of the shares in Moxy were sold to the ?lesund based company Spilka Invest AS. A few months later the Norwegian economy started to improve and the sales of Moxy dump trucks increased.
Despite the economic problems the Moxy dump truck has a good reputation in the earth moving industry and the English Thomson group acquired the company's assets, production continued under the new company Moxy Engineering AS. In 2008, Doosan Infracore's Construction Equipment Business Group acquired 100% of the company from Thomson Group, and changed the name as Doosan Moxy AS.
Moxy Product Range
The trucks are designed to work in rough terrain in all operating conditions and are built with highly advanced drive train and chassis design, which gives the Moxy dump trucks very good traction and stability.

(Redirected from Philadelphia and Western Railway)

A preserved Philadelphia and Western multiple-unit passenger car at Penn's Landing in 1990.
The Philadelphia and Western Railroad was a high-speed, third rail electric railroad operating in the western suburbs of the U.S. city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. One of its lines is now SEPTA's Rt. 100 Norristown High Speed Line Trolley; the other has been abandoned. Part of the abandoned line within Radnor Township is now the P&W Trail, a multi-use path.

Lines
The current line runs from 69th Street Terminal just west of the Philadelphia city line, west and north to Norristown, where the Lehigh Valley Transit Company's Liberty Bell Route continued to Allentown. The Norristown line splits from the original main line at Villanova Junction; the main line went west to a terminus just east of Sugartown Road in Strafford, with a later extension to provide a transfer to the PRR Strafford station and a transfer track for freight trains. The P&W Trail uses the abandoned Strafford Branch right-of-way from Radnor-Chester Road to Old Sugartown Road.
Interstate Commerce Commission valuation reports indicate that the railroad had interchange connections to the Pennsylvania Railroad at Millbourne Mills, Strafford and Swedeland.
History
The Philadelphia and Western Railway was incorporated in 1902, and was originally planned as the eastern link of a transcontinental railroad connecting to the Western Maryland Railroad at York. The WM connected at Pittsburgh with the Wabash, who in turn connected with the Missouri Pacific, then the Denver & Rio Grande Western, then finally the Western Pacific to form a coast-to-coast railroad. This was a George and Jay Gould enterprise. [1] The first train ran from 69th Street to Strafford on May 22, 1907. The planned extension to Parkesburg and York was officially abandoned on March 22, 1912; an alternate extension to the PRR main line in Strafford opened on October 11, 1911. The Norristown Branch opened on December 12, 1912.
The company was reorganized as the Philadelphia and Western Railroad in 1946. It was sold to the Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company in 1954; PST was nicknamed the Red Arrow Lines, and merged into SEPTA in 1970. The P&W once operated local freight trains to various industries along its line until 1970, when the Merion Golf Course stopped its deliveries of sand and other materials. With freight no longer running, the line no longer required FRA control. It was then disconnected from its last interchange, isolating the line from the outside world and then immediately converted from a railroad to a trolley-type operation and continues to operate as such today. Service is currently provided by a fleet of 26 N-5 Light-Rail Vehicles that feature AC-induction propulsion, steerable axles, very large windows, comfortable seating, and are capable of 80MPH. They were built by ABB Traction in 1990 with their stainless steel bodies being built by SOREFAME which is a Portuguese Budd Philadelphia Company licensee.
The last train ran on the Strafford Branch on March 23, 1956. Service is still provided on the Norristown line today. Ground was broken for the P&W Trail on June 10, 2004, and it opened in January 2005.
Equipment
The first cars built for the P&W never ran on the P&W, since the cars were completed before the line was ready to open. Twenty-two wooden electric multiple-unit passenger cars and 2 full-baggage-configured MU's were built for the P&W by the St. Louis Car Co. in 1906. However, due to the San Francisco earthquake 12 of them went to the United RR's of San Francisco, 4 went to the Sacramento Northern RR, and the remainder went to the Erie RR Mt. Morris Branch, where they were modified and rewired for overhead AC operation. The 12 cars that went to URSF had their bulkhead doors sealed and their MU capabilities removed, operating strictly as single-units. The 4 SN cars were converted to combination baggage/passenger cars and used on the Woodland branch. The two baggage cars were accepted by the P&W, where they were turned into line-maintenance cars. Finally in 1907, 22 wooden passenger cars, almost identical to the original order, arrived on P&W property. They were originally equipped with retangular-shaped bow collectors, which were later replaced with trolley poles for use in the carbarn area in addition to third rail shoes. Of these cars, No. 46 survives, along with line car No. 401 from the original order; both of which are preserved at the Electric City Trolley Museum in Scranton, PA. Prior to the move to Scranton, they ran as a two-car train while in operation at the Philadelphia Waterfront every Christmas season for many years as the "Santa Train," with No. 401...(and so on)

The Quantock Hills are a range of hills west of Bridgwater in Somerset, England. The highest point on the Quantocks is Wills Neck, at 1,261feet (384m).[1] The hills are officially designated as the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The hills run from the Vale of Taunton Deane in the south, for about 15miles (24km) to the north-west, ending at East Quantoxhead and West Quantoxhead on the coast of the Bristol Channel. They form the western border of Sedgemoor and the Somerset Levels. From the top of the hills on a clear day, it is possible to see Glastonbury Tor and the Mendips to the east, Wales as far as the Gower peninsula to the north, the Brendon Hills and Exmoor to the west, and the Blackdown Hills to the south. Soil types and weather combine to support the hills' plants and animals. In 1970 an area of 6,194.5acres (2,506.9hectares) was designated as a Biological Site of Special Scientific Interest.[2]
They have been occupied since prehistoric times with Bronze Age round barrows and Iron Age hill forts. Evidence from Roman times includes silver coins discovered in West Bagborough. In the later Saxon period, King Alfred led the resistance to Viking invasion, and Watchet was plundered by Danes in 987 and 997. The hills were fought over during the English Civil War and Monmouth rebellion but are now a peaceful area popular with tourists and walkers. They explore paths such as the Coleridge Way used by the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who lived in Nether Stowey from 1797 to 1799, or visit places of interest such as Quantock Lodge.

Etymology
The name first appears in Saxon charters in around AD 880 as Cantuctun and two centuries later in the Domesday Book as Cantoctona and Cantetone. The name means settlement by a rim or circle of hills;[3] Cantuc is Celtic for a rim or circle, and -ton or -tun is Old English for a settlement. An alternative meaning is ridge of the Welshman, probably referring to a Saxon tribe that fought a battle locally.[1]
Geology

Beach at Quantock's Head. The wave cut platform is visible at low tide below the short "cliff" exposing the rock strata.
The Quantock Hills are largely formed by rocks of the Devonian period, which consist of sediments originally laid down under a shallow sea and slowly compressed into solid rock. In the higher north-western areas older Early Devonian rocks known as Hangman Grits predominate[3] and can be seen in the exposed rock at West Quantoxhead quarry, which was worked for road building.[4] Further south there are newer Middle and Late Devonian rocks, known as Ilfracombe beds and Morte Slates.[4] These include sandstone and limestone, which have been quarried near Aisholt. At Great Holwell, south of Aisholt, is the only limestone cave in the Devonian limestone of North Devon and West Somerset.[4] The lower fringes around the hills are composed of younger New Red Sandstone rocks of the Triassic period.[5] These rocks were laid down in a shallow sea and often contain irregular masses or veins of gypsum, which was mined on the foreshore at Watchet.[4]
Several areas have outcrops of slates. Younger rocks of the Jurassic period can be found between St Audries and Kilve. This area falls within the Blue Anchor to Lilstock Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is considered to be of international...(and so on)

Soft Neon, also known as Neon Flex, LED Flex, and Flex Neon LED, is a flexible light chain composed of light emitting diodes.
This product is available from many sources worldwide, and contains varying numbers of LEDs to produce white or colored lights. This product is actually an evolving rope light which simulates the rigid neon gas-filled tubing used for many years as signage and border illumination.
As many other LED items, the life expectancy is dependent on many factors, such as the LED drivers, the ambient heat of operation, and the use (or abuse) of the light chain.

Boiler explosions are catastrophic failures of boilers. As seen today, boiler explosions are of two kinds. One kind is over-pressure in the pressure parts of the steam and water sides. The second kind is explosion in the furnace. Boiler explosions of pressure parts are particularly associated with steam locomotives. Locomotive boilers are of a construction with a very small hand-fed furnace, a boiler barrel containing boiling water under pressure, and tubes containing superheated gases from the fire (a fire tube boiler). In these, the latter type of explosion from the furnace side is practically unknown. There can be many different causes, such as failure of the safety valve or corrosion of critical parts of the boiler. Corrosion at the edges of lap joints was a common cause of early boiler explosions.

Locomotive boilers
These boilers are of a smoke tube type with wood, coal or oil used as fuel. The water feed is by means of steam-powered injectors or boiler feedwater pumps. For storage of fuel and water a separate tender is often provided, adding to the length of the locomotive. This tender usually has a sloping floor for easy flow of fuel toward the locomotive cab and firebox therein. There is a safety valve included on the steam side and also one or more gauges to warn of low water levels. Any failure of these would result in an explosion of the pressure parts with consequent injury to operating personnel, apart from the damage to equipment. The consequences are more severe due to the restricted working space and constant movement of the locomotives.
Safety valves are provided to operate the pressure parts within safe limits. The water level alarms are provided for corrective action by the locomotive drivers.
Steamboat boilers
The steamboat Sultana was destroyed in an explosion on 27 April 1865, resulting in the greatest maritime disaster in United States history. An estimated 1,700 passengers were killed when one of the ship's four boilers exploded and the Sultana sank not far from Memphis, Tennessee. The boiler was thought to be the victim of bad construction. Sometimes known as 'the leaky woes'Another US Civil War Steamboat explosion was the Steamer "Eclipse" on January 27, 1865, which was carring members of the 9th Indiana Artillery. One official Records report mentions the disaster reports 10 killed and 68 injured [1]; a later report mentions that 27 were killed and 78 wounded [2]. Fox's Regimental Losses reports 29 killed. See [3]; the 9th Indiana's Artillery History is [4].
Use of boilers
The stationary steam engines used to power machinery first came to prominence during the industrial revolution, and in the early days there were many boiler explosions from a variety of causes. One of the first investigators of the problem was William Fairbairn, who helped establish the first insurance company dealing wth the losses such explosions could cause. He also established experimentally that the hoop stress in a cylindrical pressure vessel like a boiler was twice the longitudinal stress. Such investigations helped him and others explain the importance of stress concentrations in weakening boilers.
Modern boilers
The following information is given for comparison only. These are mainly land based industries for driving steam turbines working as prime movers.
Modern boilers are more sophisticated and larger, constructed for stationary use. These boilers are both water tube and high-pressure types. These types are more sophisticated with all necessary protections, primarily used in land based industries and thermal power stations, particularly of power-generating utilities. The installation in these provides sufficient space for operator movement for them to be in a safe place in case of emergency, such as boiler or furnace explosions, as compared to early locomotive boilers.
Explosions
In steam locomotive boilers, as knowledge was gained by trial and error in early days, the explosive situations and consequent damage due to explosions were inevitable. However, improved design and maintenance markedly reduced the number of boiler explosions by the end of the 19th century. Further improvements continued in the 20th century.
On land-based boilers, explosions of the pressure systems happened regularly in stationary steam boilers in the Victorian era, but are now very rare because of the various protections provided, and also because of regular inspections compelled by governmental and industry requirements.
