Frame/chassis
The RXV/SXV's frame is made of a combination of tubular steel and aluminum plates. The compact engine fits into the frame in such a way that the air filter sits on top of the engine, below the gas tank, rather than the more traditional under-the-seat location. [1] This allows for a lower distribution of weight.
Engine
The RXV/SXV has a v-twin engine, and is one of the first off-road motorcycles to feature fuel injection. The 4.5 has a displacement of 449 cc, while the 5.5 has a displacement of 549 cc. Each engine has a single-overhead cam and four valves per cylinder. The 77 degree cylinder angle minimizes vibration. [2] Both are dry sump, with a separate oil tank for the gearbox and engine.
The 4.5 produces a claimed 60horsepower (45kW) at the crank, while the 5.5 produces a claimed 70. [3] Unfortunantly, horsepower measured at the crank is of little use to the average rider; horsepower measurements are much more accurate when taken at the rear wheel with a dynomometer. [4]

After racing in go-karts for a season in 1991, Mears began competing in the SuperLites Off-Road Series in 1992 where he posted several top-three finishes. He moved to sprint cars in 1994 and finished third in the Jim Russell USAC Triple Crown Championship, with a win at Mesa Marin Raceway. The next season, he won the championship in the USAC series.
In 1996, Mears made his CART's Indy Lights championship series debut at the Cleveland Grand Prix and finished eighth. The following year, he competed full-time in the Indy Lights championship and in 1999 finished second, losing by 14 points. He was also just the fourth driver in Indy Lights series history to complete every lap in a single season. Mears continued to compete in the Indy Lights in 2000 and won his first race at the Grand Prix of Houston meeting in October.
After testing Indy Cars for multiple teams in 2000, Mears was offered a chance to drive a third entry for Team Rahal at California Speedway in October. After qualifying 15th and leading 10 laps, he posted a career-best fourth finish in his CART Series debut. He ran three IRL events at the start of the 2001 season, and ended the season by filling in for injured ChampCar driver Alex Zanardi, posting one top-10 finish in four starts.
Mears had five CART starts, with one top-5 finish, and three IRL starts, with no top-5 finishes.
NASCAR
Mears made his NASCAR debut in the Busch Series in 2001 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, driving the 66 car for Cicci-Welliver Racing. He started 21st and finished 28th. When the team was sold to Wayne Jesel the next season, Mears drove for them full-time, finishing 21st in points with two top-ten finishes. To the surprise of many, he was selected by Chip Ganassi Racing to drive the #41 Target Dodge in 2003. In his rookie season, he finished 35th after failing to finish in the top-ten in any race. He drove the car for two additional seasons, and won two poles in 2004.
During the 2005 season, it was announced Mears would move to a separate car for Chip Ganassi with Home123 sponsorship, with the #41 to be piloted by Reed Sorenson. The Home123 sponsorship fell through and he instead moved to the #42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge for Ganassi, replacing the departing Jamie McMurray.

Casey Mears' 2007 NEXTEL Cup car
On 6 June 2006, Mears announced that he was leaving Chip Ganassi Racing at the end of the season to join Hendrick Motorsports for the 2007 season, to replace the departing Brian Vickers. On 8 July , he finally won his first NASCAR race, a Busch Series race at Chicagoland Speedway, coasting to the finish after running out of fuel.

Casey Mears racing in his Busch Series car
For the 2007 season, Mears assumed driving duties for the #25 Hendrick Chevrolet, with co-primary sponsorship from the National Guard of the United States and GMAC. On May 27, he won the Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte for his first career Nextel Cup victory. Once again, Mears secured the win with a fuel gamble, taking the lead with five laps remaining when most of the other lead lap cars stopped for fuel. Mears stretched his fuel to the finish, running out moments after his first checkered flag.

"Satin Sheets" is the name of a popular Country music song, made famous by Jeanne Pruett in 1973.
History & About the Song
Jeanne Pruett struggled for years under RCA records in the 1960s, before signing successfully with Decca in 1969, which then became MCA the year "Satin Sheets" was released. She finally started charting the Country list in 1971, then by 1972, she was hitting the Top 40 with her self-penned "Love Me" (later a bigger Country hit for Marty Robbins). "Satin Sheets" was written by John Volinkaty specifically for Pruett only. The song was released as a single in February 1973.
"Satin Sheets" hit country radio in March 1973, aided by 1,600 pink satin sheets that Jeanne cut by hand and sent to radio programmers and music executives across the nation. The international hit topped the country charts that May. [1]
The song was such a big hit it the Pop Top 30 on the Pop charts, reaching No. 28. "Satin Sheets" went on to become Pruett's biggest hit and career hit, as well as a signature Country tune of the 1970s. The song was revolutionary for Country music at the time, for its open discussion of sex. The song talks of how a housewife is unhappy with her marriage to a man who only gives gifts to his wife instead of giving her real love. An album of the same name was released that year, that topped the "Top Country Albums" chart as well. The album featured Pruett lying in a pink bed, with pink satin clothes and satin sheets. Because of the song's success, Pruett was invited to join the Grand Ole Opry, where she still remains today. Since being on the Opry, she has been given a nickname that comes from her signature song, "Miss Satin Sheets". "Satin Sheets" helped set the stage for a successful follow-up that hit the Top 10 late that year, titled "I'm Your Woman", followed by a few other hits in the 70s, as well as a few more in 1980.
Cover Versions
Cover versions of the songs have been released. A cover by The Bellamy Brothers in 1976 from their album Let Your Love Flow reached #73 on the Billboard Hot 100. Dolly Parton did her version on her 1996 album Treasures, and the most recent is the one Martina McBride did for her 2005 cover album, Timeless.

CD Player
DVD Player (also known as dvdplay.exe) was a computer program included in some versions of Microsoft Windows that autoplays a DVD disc if a supported MPEG-2 decoder was present. DVD Player was introduced in Windows 98[1].
When the DVD Player is launched, it searches all local drives in alphabetical order, starting with the C drive, looking for a Video_TS folder. When this folder is located, the data file within it is loaded, and video streaming begins. If this folder exists on a drive that comes before the DVD drive, the player will try to play the data in the first folder it finds.
An MPEG-2 video decoder is required to view DVDs. Windows Vista has an MPEG-2 decoder built-in. Prior versions of Windows required users to obtain one separately as a hardware / software add-on. With Windows XP, dvdplay was dropped as a separate application in favor of DVD functionality that had been introduced into Windows Media Player. While a dvdplay executable still resides in System32, it simply executes Windows Media Player.

Location of boom.
In sailing, a boom is a spar (pole), along the foot (bottom) of a fore and aft rigged sail, that greatly improves control of the angle and shape of the sail. The primary action of the boom is to keep the foot of the sail flatter when the sail angle is away from the centerline of the boat. The boom also serves an attachment point for more sophisticated control lines. Because of the improved sail control it is rare to find a non headsail without a boom. In some modern applications, the sail is rolled up into the boom for storage or reefing (shortening sail).

Boom attachment
The forward end of the boom attaches to a mast just below the sail, with a joint called the gooseneck. The gooseneck pivots allowing the other end of the boom to move freely. The clew (back corner) of the sail attaches to the free end of the boom. The entire foot of the sail may be attached to the boom or just the clew. If the foot is not attached to the boom, the rig is known as loose footed.
A boom may be found on small headsails. There the forward end of the boom is attached to the same stay as the sail's luff (forward edge).
Lines on the boom
The control lines (ropes) on the boom act in conjunction with the halyard and leech line to ensure that the sail is trimmed most effectively.
Two primary sail control lines are attached to every boom:
The outhaul runs from the clew of the sail to the free end of the boom. Hauling in on (tightening) the outhaul increases foot tension in the main sail. Modern loose footed sails are cut so that the outhaul is also able to pull the clew downwards towards the boom.
The sheet is attached midway along the boom or at the free end. In smaller boats such as dinghies it is used to control the angle of the sail to the wind on each point of sail. On larger boats this function is largely assumed by the traveller and the main sheet is used to adjust the twist of the sail to present the luff of the sail to the wind all of the way up the mast. Easing the main sheet increases twist and the twist is usually adjusted so that the aft end of the top batten in the main sail runs parallel to the boom. The traveller is a track running from one side of the boat to the other upon which sits a car to which the other end of the sheet is attached. Moving the car from side to side alters the angle of the boom to the centreline of the boat while minimising the effect on the twist of the sail.
A boom will frequently have these additional sail control lines attached:
A downhaul may be attached to the boom near the gooseneck to pull the boom down and increase tension on the luff (forward edge) of the sail. If no downhaul is present, the gooseneck is usually fixed vertically to the mast and a cunningham may be used to control luff tension.
The boom vang, kicking strap or kicker is an intricate set of pulleys (and, on yachts, a hydraulic ram) running diagonally between the boom and the lower portion of the mast. The kicker pulls the boom downwards. When the boat is running away from the wind the sheet will be fully eased and so the kicker becomes the primary means of controlling sail twist.
The Preventer, prevents the boom from jibing. This line is run from a point on the boom to a point forward such as a deck cleat or the base of a stanchion. Ideally, the preventer should run from the aft end of the boom to a turning block at or very close to the bow and then back to a cleat convenient to the cockpit. The line does not take tremendous force if used properly, but it prevents the boom from starting a jibe if the wind shifts or the boat rolls. Sophisticated form of preventer is a Boom Brake, which not only prevents unwanted jibes, but allows a slow measured jibe by modulating the tension on the brake.
Reef Lines, are used to tie-off excess sail, when sails are reefed (shortened). Some modern systems know as "jiffy reefing" or "slab reefing" have permanent lines running through the boom for purposes of reefing. Pulling on these lines helps to gather the excess sail at the bottom of the boom, and to secure the reef points to the fore and aft of the boom. With a well designed system sailors can reef the sails without leaving the cockpit.
Other lines that may found on a boom include:
A topping lift, holds up the free end of the boom when the sail is lowered.
Lazy jacks guide the sail onto the top of the boom for furling when the sail is lowered.
Boom material and hardware
Traditionally booms, and other spars, were made of wood. Classic wooden hulled sailboats, both old and new, will usually have wooden spars. When aluminum became available, it was adopted for sailboat spars. Aluminum...(and so on)

(Redirected from Nambe)
Namb (pronounced /n??m?be?/[1]) is an eight-metal alloy whose major component is aluminum. It was created at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the 1940s and is exclusively produced by the Namb Mills, Inc., which was founded in 1951 near Namb Pueblo, some 10 miles north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The alloy has the luster of silver and the solidity of iron. Nambe has a lower thermal conductivity than silver. Namb does not contain silver, lead or pewter (a tin and copper alloy) and resists tarnishing. However, it is susceptible to discoloration or pitting with acidic foods. It is not recommended any food be stored in Nambe metal or held for greater than a few hours due to these concerns (not health). Because Namb's alloy is a trade secret, the Namb company does not divulge the rest of the formula. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has declared Namb safe for cooking and serving.
The metal is often sand cast and polished to a high luster to create aluminum alloy products such as serveware, cookware, bowls, platters, trays, dishes, plates, napkin rings, candle holders, wine bottle holders, martini shakers and coasters.
Similar metal alloys are Carson's Statesmetal and Wilton Armetale.

For other uses, see Fashion (disambiguation).

In Following the Fashion (1794), James Gillray caricatured a figure flattered by the short-bodiced gowns then in fashion, contrasting it with an imitator whose figure is not flattered.
Fashion refers to the styles and customs prevalent at a given time. In its most common usage, "fashion" exemplifies the appearances of clothing, but the term encompasses more. Many fashions are popular in many cultures at any given time. Important is the idea that the course of design and fashion will change more rapidly than the culture as a whole. Fashion designers create and produce clothing articles.
The terms "fashionable" and "unfashionable" were employed to describe whether someone or something fits in with the current or even not so current, popular mode of expression. The term "fashion" is frequently used in a positive sense, as a synonym for glamour, beauty and style. In this sense, fashions are a sort of communal art, through which a culture examines its notions of beauty and goodness. The term "fashion" is also sometimes used in a negative sense, as a synonym for fads and trends, and materialism. A number of cities are recognized as global fashion centers and are recognized for their fashion weeks, where designers exhibit their new clothing collections to audiences. These cities are Paris, Milan, New York, and London. Other cities, mainly Los Angeles, Berlin, Tokyo, Rome, Miami, Hong Kong, S?o Paulo, Sydney, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Madrid, Montreal, Mumbai, Vienna, Auckland, Moscow, New Delhi, San Juan, Stockholm, Turin and Dubai also hold fashion weeks and are better recognized every year.

Areas of fashion
Fashion as social phenomena is common. The rise and fall of fashion has been especially documented and examined in the following fields:
Architecture, interior design, and landscape design
Arts and crafts
Body type, clothing or costume, cosmetics, personal grooming, hairstyle, and personal adornment
Dance and music
Forms of address, slang, and other forms of speech
Economics and spending choices, as studied in behavioral finance
Entertainment, games, hobbies, sports, and other pastimes
Etiquette
Fast fashion
Management, management styles and ways of organizing
Politics and media, especially the topics of conversation encouraged by the media
Philosophy and religion: although the doctrines of religions and philosophies change very slowly if at all, there can be rapid changes in what areas of a religion or a philosophy are seen as most important and most worth following or studying.
Social networks and the diffusion of representations and practices
Sociology and the meaning of clothing for identity-building
Technology, such as the choice of computer programming techniques
Hospitality industry, such as designer uniforms custom made for a hotel, restaurant, casino, resort or club, in order to reflect a property and brand.
Of these fields, costume especially has become so linked in the public eye with the term "fashion" that the more general term "costume" has mostly been relegated to only mean fancy dress or masquerade wear, while the term "fashion" means clothing generally, and the study of it. This linguistic switch is due to the so-called fashion plates which were produced during the Industrial Revolution, showing novel ways to use new textiles. For a broad cross-cultural look at clothing and its place in society, refer to the entries for clothing, costume and fabrics. The remainder of this article deals with clothing fashions in the Western world.[1]
Clothing
Main article: History of Western fashion
The habit of people continually changing the style of clothing worn, which is now worldwide, at least among urban populations, is generally held by historians to be a distinctively Western one.[dubious discuss] At other periods in Ancient Rome and other cultures changes in costume occurred, often at times of economic or social change, but then a long period without large changes followed. In 8th century Cordoba, Spain, Ziryab, a famous musician - a star in modern terms - is said to have introduced sophisticated clothing styles based on seasonal and daily timings from his native Baghdad and his own inspiration.

English caricature of Tippies of 1796
The beginnings of the habit in Europe of continual and increasingly rapid change in styles can be fairly reliably dated to the middle of the 14th century, to which historians including James Laver and Fernand Braudel date the start of Western fashion in clothing.[2][3] The most dramatic manifestation was a...(and so on)

Renewable heat is an application of renewable energy and it refers to the renewable generation of heat, rather than electrical power (e.g. replacing a fossil fuel boiler using concentrating solar thermal to feed radiators).
Many colder countries consume more energy for heating than electrical power. For example, in 2005 the United Kingdom consumed 354 TWh[1] of electric power, but had a heat requirement of 907 TWh, the majority of which (81%) was met using gas. The residential sector alone consumed a massive 550 TWh of energy for heating, mainly in the form of gas. Almost half of the final energy consumed in the UK (49%) was in the form of heat, of which 70% was used by households and in commercial and public buildings. Households used heat for mainly for space heating (69%) and heating water.[2]
Renewable electric power is becoming cheap and convenient enough to place it, in many cases, within reach of the average consumer. By contrast, the market for renewable heat is mostly inaccessible to domestic consumers due to inconvenience of supply, and high capital costs. Heating accounts for a large proportion of energy consumption, however a universally accessible market is still in its early stages.

Solar heating
Solar heating is a style of building construction which uses the energy of summer or winter sunshine to provide an economic supply of primary or supplementary heat to a structure. The heat can be used for both space heating and water heating (see solar hot water). Solar heating design is divided into two groups:
Passive solar heating relies on the design and structure of the house to collect heat. Passive solar building design must also consider the storage and distribution of heat, which may be accomplished passively, or use air ducting to draw heat actively to the foundation of the building for storage. One such design was measured lifting the temperature of a house to 24 (74) on a partially sunny winter day (-7 or 19), and it is claimed that the system provides passively for the bulk of the building's heating[3]. The 4,000-square-foot (370m2) home cost $125 per square foot (or 370 m2 at $1,351/m2), similar to the cost of a traditional new home.
Active solar heating uses pumps to move air or a liquid from the solar collector into the building or storage area. One application, solar water heating, works in conjunction with an existing water heater, and is based on solar panels fitted to the roof. In contrast to photovoltaic panels which are used to generate electricity, solar water heating panels are cheaper to manufacture, and capture a much higher proportion of the sun's energy.
Solar heating systems usually require a small supplementary backup heating system, either conventional or renewable.
Heat Pumps
Heat pumps use work to move heat from one place to another, and can be used for both heating and air conditioning. Though capital intensive, heat pumps are economical to run and can be powered by renewable electricity. Two common types of heat pump are air-source heat pumps (ASHP) and ground-source heat pumps (GSHP), depending on whether heat is transferred from the air or from the ground. Air source heat pumps are not effective when the outside air temperatures is lower than about -15 , while ground-source heat pumps are not affected. The efficiency of a heat pump is measured by the coefficient of performance (CoP): For every unit of electricity used to pump the heat, an air source heat pump generates 2.5 to 3 units of heat (i.e. it has a CoP of 2.5 to 3), whereas a GSHP generates 3 to 4 units of heat. Based on current fuel prices for the United Kingdom, assuming a CoP of 3-4, a GSHP can be a cheaper form of space heating than oil, LPG and electric storage heaters. It is however more expensive than mains gas[4] unless the heat pump is linked to an interseasonal thermal store when the CoP can rise to 7 by extracting heat from warm ground [5].
Interseasonal Heat Transfer
Interseasonal Heat Transfer combines active solar collection to store surplus summer heat in thermal banks [6] with GSHPs to extract it for space heating in winter. This reduces the "Lift" needed and doubles the CoP of the heat pump because the pump starts with warmth from the thermal bank in place of cold from the ground.
CoP and Lift
The CoP increases as the temperature difference, or "Lift", decreases between heat source and destination. The CoP can be maximised at design time by choosing a heating system requiring only a low final water...(and so on)
